As a corollary, I think they'd be much more useful if there were direct interoperability of things like the GPIO pins. As far as I can tell, there could exist a compatibility shim for software using wiringpi and wiring etc. from the RPi world, but trying to set it up is a software/kernel nightmare for anyone not working professionally in this space.
I gave it a shot about a year ago using LLMs, but haven't revisited it since.
For me it's the asteroids. Having space being so densely populated with procedural asteroids is immediately, irreversibly immersion breaking for me. Like... space would be opaque and life on these plants would immediately cease in a cataclysm of bombardment.
This was also one of many gripes I had with Starfield.
I think you gotta set aside some of that to enjoy both as Sci-Fi games, not space sim games. In Sci-Fi, asteroids are close together and you can shoot them for resources or lose an enemy in them like a dark forest, because those things are fun. IRL, they are ridiculously far apart and not nearly as fun.
It's always a potential danger to one's enjoyment to know too much about something though. :)
These systems aren't perfect recognition oracles - there are lots of errors, especially as you scale up the technology. At the end of the day, it's a probabilistic identification correlated to a stream with a mix of of reported or suspected crimes. Your framing completely misses the reality. I'd argue that the OP's language is a much better fit.
These (and other TOS agreements) fall under the category of "adhesion contracts".
Because the buyer has no real ability to negotiate, any ambiguity is resolved in their favor. A judge can also strike provisions that a reasonable buyer would not expect, or that are unconscionable. So it's up to the judge's judgment.
The cooler thing is that if a substantial amount of the 216M TV owners tried to arbitrate across the country/world, they'd cave so fast. Arbitration is cheaper than an individual law suit, but much much more expensive than a class-action.
Fun fact, they'd already need one if they weren't buying the data from private companies. This is because both the courts and legislature have been busy desecrating and burying the fourth amendment for decades.
Agreed, the xda forum thing is a huge security smell. "Here, download this big binary from a random forum user and put it on a device you carry with you everywhere which is equipped with internet, camera, microphone, and GPS. You're welcome!"
The GrapheneOS setup seems a lot better (though it has more limited support).
currently on GraphineOS for those very reasons. There is some amazing stuff in XDA forums but ultimately it's just some random guy posting some random ROM.
Only way I was able to get Cyanogenmod on stuff back in the day, was to use shady hacks from XDA, but man it was super slow and seemed to use a ton of bandwidth...
